At the Naval Academy, Matt distinguished himself as a three-year letterman on the varsity football team, participating in two bowl games and beating Army three out of four seasons.<h2>Family Life</h2><h4>Matt is married to Debbie Myers, who grew up in Manchester.</h4>Together, they have three children and five grandchildren, weaving a tight-knit family deeply rooted in New Hampshire. While&nbsp;in the navy Matt and Debbie were stationed&nbsp;in Pensacola FL, Lemoore CA, and Jacksonville FL, then they returned to New Hampshire, first settling in Manchester before building a house on his family’s property in Bedford in 1993.

This election is the most important election in the last 40 years for several reasons. The recent Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade is one. The rise of the free state movement in New Hampshire is another.

Our Campaign’s Top Issues

<h4>The Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade has pushed the issue of reproductive rights to the states.</h4>In 2021, the Republican controlled legislature slipped the first ever abortion ban into New Hampshire law, and we have only seen more extreme legislation introduced ever since, from a 15 week ban to a 15-day abortion ban.I will work to codify protections for a woman’s right to choose into New Hampshire law.This Supreme Court decision is the first to take away a constitutional right. This means that the responsibility now falls to Granite Staters, to protect our rights to reproductive freedoms.

<h4>Washington is finally taking the first steps to address climate change in a meaningful way.</h4>This step is long overdue. States need to be ready to partner with the federal government and private industry to change our energy infrastructure.Federal investment will unleash untold innovation and thousands of new, well-paying jobs. This is important for the planet as a whole, but it is also important for the New Hampshire economy.&nbsp;Tourism generates many jobs in New Hampshire, and climate change could be devastating to this industry.

Washington is finally taking the first steps to address climate change in a meaningful way. This step is long overdue. States need to be ready to partner with the federal government and private industry to change our energy infrastructure.

Climate Change

<h4>As an officer in the Navy I saw firsthand the need to have well educated soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines in order to run our high tech, advanced military.</h4>Sailors I worked with came right out of high school and, with one year of technical training, master all the systems on the $50 million aircraft that Navy pilots like I flew.If our service members do not have a solid education foundation, and if our work force does not include employees with a solid education foundation, both our economy and our military will suffer.Meanwhile, radical free staters have created a voucher program that is taking money away from our public schools and giving them to for private and religious schools.The end product of the voucher program is the state downshifting the responsibility of properly funding our schools onto the towns. Forcing towns to either chose to reduce school programs or raise local property taxes to make up the difference.

If our service members do not have a solid education foundation, and if our work force does not include employees with a solid education foundation, both our economy and our military will suffer.

<h4>Both my wife and I were lifelong union members.&nbsp;</h4>Without a doubt, working in a union improves an employee’s quality of life with both improved pay and benefits.This does not just benefit the union worker. It benefits the NH economy. A well paid worker is able to do the things that make an economy thrive. They buy cars, they take vacations, go to sporting events, concerts, restaurants, and plays. They contribute to charities.In essence, the fact that they make a decent living goes a long way to allowing so many other businesses to thrive.I will work to ensure Right to Work laws do not pass in the New Hampshire Legislature.I will work hard in Concord to ensure that all employees have the ability to form a union and collectively bargain with their employer for the conditions of their employment.

<h2>Community Engagement</h2>Matt did volunteer work coaching and umpiring in the Bedford youth sports leagues. He was the first coach of the Manchester West High School girls lacrosse club. This was a full-time volunteer coaching position and it became the impetus for the sport being picked up at the varsity level after two seasons.Additionally, after Matt retired from commercial flying during the Covid pandemic, he became a volunteer driver for Hillsborough County Meals on Wheels program, and a regular donor of blood platelets at the Manchester Red Cross.

Matt was assigned to Attack Squadron 86, part of Carrier Air Wing 8, and assigned to the USS Nimitz.Matt did three deployments on board Nimitz, accumulating over 350 carrier landings. He was privileged to fly all over the world including Europe, Asia, Canada, and the Caribbean.
